Xenia

Seattle, 2015

A live-in still-life.

I converted an apartment into a mixed tableau of artworks and transitional spaces for visitors to encounter within the context of a satellite home. Named after the Greek practice of providing guests from abroad with food to eat in private, Xenia was available for strangers to rent via Airbnb and advertised via art and non-art channels. With Xenia, a kind of mini-residency, I wanted to expand, via discrete experiences, an audience's sense of autonomy with art. I believe more people should experience art the way artists do: slowly, regularly, and as a deep amenity of daily life.

(Images include artworks and objects by various artists: see "Xenia_Take Care" for details)
